In 1968, he moved to Spartanburg, SC, to help with their cutting and sewing operations. He later founded and owned L&K and Shelby Dye & Finishing in 1970, with operations in Spartanburg, SC, Gaffney, SC, Shelby, NC, and the Dominican Republic. L&K produced ladies' polyester activewear and was featured in prominent fashion magazines and available nationwide in leading department stores. Bradley continued to operate Shelby Dye & Finishing and started BJK Co. through the 1990s, contributing significantly to several textile businesses in Spartanburg County.

Kevin J. Kennedy: Kevin is the third generation of the Kennedy family in the textile industry. At age 17, in 1990 he started working with his father and continued learning pattern making, cutting, and sewing production processes. In 1997, Bradley Kennedy Sr. and Kevin Kennedy established BJ Kennedy Corp., Inc., focusing on research and development, just-in-time production, and private label cutting and sewing services. This company operated until 2006.
