The single-layer cutters from KURIS represent the fourth generation of our proven cutting systems, completely revised and optimized for modern demands. A key feature is the cutting head with a programmable Z-axis, ensuring precision and flexibility.
These machines are designed to deliver maximum productivity and superior manufacturing quality. The adaptive tool technology allows for precise customization to suit different materials, ensuring optimal cutting conditions at all times. The fourth generation is equipped with the Multiflex Tool Change System, which offers extremely short piercing times, impressive travel and cutting speeds, and significantly reduced setup times by minimizing adjustment processes. This guarantees enhanced efficiency and performance.
The image processing system, specifically designed for KURIS textile and carpet cutting machines, enables the automatic determination of cutting coordinates. Depending on customer requirements, materials are scanned in 2D or 3D using advanced camera technology. The calculated cutting coordinates are then seamlessly transferred to the cutting system for further processing
In addition to the ability to scale scanned shapes by enlarging or reducing them as needed, the corners can also be rounded based on specific requirements. Various calculation modules, customizable to customer specifications can assist operators in determining optimal cutting coordinates. The predefined standard calculation modules help the operator to determine the optimal cutting coordinates:
Predefined Standard Calculation Modules:
  • Freeform: For irregular or custom shapes.
  • Rectangle: Fixed, predefined values for rectangle size can also be set.
  • Square (no 90° angle): Allows for non-standard square shapes.
  • Circle: Fixed, predefined radii can also be specified.
Special, Customizable Calculation Modules:
  • Specific: Enables the creation of customer-specific and freely definable modules for vector calculations that can be applied to scanned shapes.
  • Predefined: Allows the use of predefined shapes stored in files. Supported file types include DXF, PCX, BMP, TIF, PNG, and JPG.
  • Tiles: Places a user-defined matrix of sub-shapes over the detected shape. Sub-shapes can include rectangles, circles, or—if enabled—predefined shapes.
  • Grid: Places a user-defined grid over the detected shape.
All calculation modes can be tailored to specific customer requirements, optimized, and saved individually. Statistics Module (Optional):
The statistics module allows for easy tracking of production-relevant data, such as cut lengths, areas, and the number of mats. At the end of a shift, this information can be sent via email, including as a CSV file for further analysis. CAPTURE – IDENTIFY – CUT The textiles or carpets are captured using the integrated camera system, enabling rapid scanning and immediate display of the recorded image. The intuitive user interface ensures the system can be operated efficiently in minimal time, facilitating seamless communication between the software and cutter.
The software processes and filters the scanned images, generating a cutting grid directly. Cutting files are transferred automatically from the scanning software to the HMI, eliminating the need for additional operator commands or CAD files.
Engineered for the toughest conditions, the system features a cutting head with 14,000 strokes per minute and a 2-edged special knife with a 15mm cutting height. The modular cutter can also be equipped for versatile applications, including:
  • Milling
  • Hollow drilling
  • Drawing/marking
  • Oscillating knife
  • Driven circular knife
The machine delivers travel speeds of up to 100 meters per minute and cutting speeds of up to 70 meters per minute, depending on the material. It is available with an optional 7.5- or 11-KW vacuum pump.
Thanks to the uniform user interface and intuitive menu navigation, operators can easily transition across technologies, drastically reducing operating errors and training costs. Even at high speeds, the system delivers consistently precise and reliable cutting. The mobile, innovative control system is exceptionally user-friendly, further enhancing productivity.
